2017 statistics from the Pew Research Center show more immigrants in the U.S. than in any other country. In fact, the 40 million immigrants now living in the U.S. who were born in another country represent one-fifth of the world’s migrant population.
But isn’t this photo simply representative of who we have always been? The country that offered a home to those who, for whatever reason, could not make a decent life in their country of origin?
Seems to me that it’s this very influx of motivated and hardworking people, willing to sacrifice so much and risk all on the unknown, who account for the remarkable innovation and entrepreneurship the United States is known for.
