The Plantagenets: The Warrior Kings and Queens Who Make England – by Dan Jones – independent book review – Non-fiction

If you like non-fiction, this is a good one – very readable. Unfortunately, I generally prefer historical fiction and so found myself skimming some of the detail, especially around battles. So, I only awarded it three stars on Goodreads.

I learned a lot about the Plantagenets, a ruling family that will always fascinate me. While I usually focus on Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, and King John, I found it interesting to learn about the many accomplishments and disasters associated with the three Edwards.

This book will now send me off to find historical fiction related to Edward I and Edward III and Richard II.

Dan Jones

More about Dan Jones. Turns out he also hosts a number of TV series related to English history, including Britain’s Bloodiest Dynasty, based on this book. And another series on castles in England and France.
