Just back from three weeks traveling around the scenic United Kingdom, starting in Cornwall, the southwestern corner of England.

Cornwall is VERY picturesque and the setting for many television shows and movies, including Poldark and Die Another Day.
A sampling of photos:

Towns don’t get much cuter than the one above.

Even when the house has a VERY small area for a garden, people seem to find a way to make it peaceful and lovely. Of course, the view doesn’t hurt either.

St. Michael’s Mount, the castle above, which can only be reached during part of the day by walking across a causeway at low-tide, was built by the same people who built its more famous cousin, Mont Saint-Michel off the coast of Normandy, France. This castle however is currently privately OWNED privately, though you can visit.

There’s a wonderful cliff walk, east from Perranuthnoe toward Prussia Cove. Aside from spectacular views, you can occasionally spot seals swimming offshore. Below are a few images.

The PBS television series DOC MARTIN was shot on location in the small fishing town of Port Isaac in Cornwall.

For anyone who wants to visit Cornwall, consider a day trip or overnight excursion to the Isles of Scilly, also VERY beautiful. Just a half hour plane ride from the Land’s End Airport.

You probably never even knew these islands were there!
Following Cornwall, we took off for The Cotswolds. It too has many adorable small towns.
I haven’t been there since the 80s, I’m afraid. Lovely area.
