I read so few short stories that I have forgotten just how powerful they can be. Thank you Christina Baker Kline. Awarded four stars on Goodreads.
THE SCENIC ROUTE is a tightly written (43 pages), emotional look at one woman — who suffers unbearable loss, makes a few mistakes, but then has to deal with the consequences of her actions and put her life back together. Not exactly a new theme but it felt very fresh to read. And made me realize again about how vulnerable we all are, everyday, to random circumstances that can turn our lives upside down.
It only takes about an hour to read but it’s an intense hour. And will make you think and feel.
